Youth Baptisms:
We are glad you are considering Baptism for your child. Through this sacrament, your child is welcomed into the Church. Parents and godparents share in the responsibility of nurturing the child’s faith through prayer, teaching, and loving example.

The St. Joseph’s parish family looks forward to celebrating this with you and supporting your family as you prepare. A baptism preparation process is offered for parents of infants and young children.
Preparation should be arranged at least two weeks in advance. Baptisms are not scheduled during Advent or Lent.
Requirements:
Parents:

Parents and child must be registered parishioners of St. Joseph’s.

Submit the completed Baptism Application and a copy of the child’s birth certificate.​​​​​

Complete the Ascension Press Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God Baptism Preparation Class, if they have not done so within the past two years - cost of $15.95.

If you are registered at another parish, a letter of permission from your pastor is required.

Father Wayne may request a meeting as part of the preparation process.

Submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate from the county of birth.

A baptism offering of $200 per child is requested.

You may submit the completed requirements and payment through the online form, or in person at the Parish Office, open Wednesday–Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.​

Godparents:
-
Godparents must attend a Baptism Preparation Class if they have not done so within the past two years.

Godparents must be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church.

A completed Godparent Sponsor Form, signed by their pastor, must be submitted.
On the Day of Baptism:

Please arrive at the church by 8:30 AM.

Dress the child in white, symbolizing new life in Christ.

Bring a baptism candle (Agnus Dei on Walnut Avenue offers a selection of candles).

It is customary for the family to offer a thank-you card and an offering to the priest.
