Position: Parish Ministry Coordinator (Part-Time, up to 25 hrs/week)
About the Role
Saint Joseph’s is seeking a faith-filled, organized, and welcoming individual to help nurture our vibrant parish community. The Parish Ministry Coordinator supports and connects parish ministries, volunteers, and events to strengthen participation and unity in our shared mission.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Pastor and Pastoral Associate in carrying out the parish’s spiritual and pastoral vision.
Serve as the main contact for ministry leaders and volunteers.
Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and ministry teams.
Foster parishioner involvement and help identify individuals’ gifts for ministry.
Assist with parish events, liturgical seasons, and special celebrations.
Promote parish activities through bulletins, social media, and other communications.
Maintain ministry and volunteer records and ensure Safe Environment compliance.
Encourage collaboration and communication across all parish groups.
Ideal Candidate
A practicing Catholic in good standing who demonstrates a joyful, servant-hearted spirit.
Strong people skills, approachable, empathetic, and able to build trust and teamwork.
Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, and social media tools.
Available for some evening or weekend events as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in parish ministry or volunteer coordination.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Familiarity with the Diocese of Monterey’s policies and parish life.
Additional Information
Part-time, non-exempt position (up to 25 hours/week).
Schedule to be set with the Pastoral Associate.
Must complete diocesan background check (Live Scan) and VIRTUS certification.
Salary negotiable based on experience.
